The time has come to switch out the gloves and scarves for sandals and sunglasses. Spring means kids will spend more time outdoors, the sun will shine longer, and spring safety precautions will go into full effect. Here are a few spring reminders:

Don’t forget the sunscreen. More time in the sun leaves the skin exposed and vulnerable. Be sure to apply sunscreen throughout the day to protect skin from the sun’s rays.

Be cautious of allergens. Trees are in full bloom which means allergy sufferers may experience coughing, sneezing, and itchy/watery eyes. Follow allergy precautions as suggested by your doctor.

Check play equipment. Dust off winter by making sure backyard jungle gym’s screws have been checked and are secure, bicycle chains aren’t rusty, and all safety gear still fits properly.

Reiterate outside rules. Remind children of play time rules such as staying away from the curb, remaining in eyesight of parents/caregiver when playing at the park or local attraction, and other household rules.

Happy spring!
